Designed in 2000 by Erla Sólveig Óskarsdóttir, the Bessie Chair presents a balance of design simplicity and practical functionality. With its stackable nature and minimalist aesthetic, it’s been a choice inclusion in numerous projects throughout the years.
Bessi is available with a veneer back, in a fully upholstered version, and in black or white plastic. The frame can be either chrome, satin chrome or black painted. Upholstery in leather or fabric.

The Bessi Chair at United Nations Climate Change Conference COP15
The 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference, commonly known as the Copenhagen Summit, was held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, between 7 and 18 December. The conference included a large number of The Bessi Chair, where the then U.S. President Barack Obama was seated in the chair.

Erla Sólveig Oskarsdóttir is born in Iceland but got her education in industrial design from the Danish Design School in Copenhagen in 1993. She moved back to Reykjavik after finishing her studies to work as an independent designer. She works in furniture design and cooperates with companies in Europe and USA.
